Privacy Policy for KettleForge

KettleForge collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us, because we have no server to send it to — the only things that leave your phone are what you choose to share, and a purchase, which Apple handles. This policy explains that in more detail, and in particular what happens with the camera and with Apple Health.

The camera

• KettleForge asks for camera access so it can count your repetitions by recognising the movement of the lift.
• Camera frames are read one at a time, examined on your device using Apple's on-device body-pose detection, and discarded immediately. Each frame is replaced by the next one.
• No video or still image is ever recorded, saved, or transmitted. Nothing from the camera is written to storage, and nothing leaves your device.
• Camera access is optional. If you decline it, or turn rep counting off in Settings, the app works as a timer and you count by tapping.

Apple Health

• Using Apple Health is optional. If you do not connect it, or turn off any part of it, KettleForge works exactly as before and keeps your workouts only in the app.
• If you allow it, KettleForge reads:
  • your most recent weight, so you do not have to enter it twice and so the app can estimate the energy a workout burned;
  • today's active energy, to show the day's total next to the energy KettleForge has written;
  • your sex, used only to compare a set against a kettlebell federation's published rank standards, which are set out separately for men and women. It is optional: if you leave it empty, KettleForge simply shows no rank.
• If you allow it, KettleForge writes:
  • a workout for each set you finish, with its rounds and any pauses;
  • an estimate of the active energy that workout burned, worked out from the lifts, how long they lasted and your weight.
• KettleForge never writes anything about your body to Health — not your weight, and not your sex. It only writes the workouts you finish and the energy it estimates for them.
• What KettleForge reads from Health is copied into the app so it can work offline, and after that the app's own copy is the one it uses: changing a value in Health does not change it in KettleForge until you tap Read from Apple Health on the Profile screen and confirm. Editing a value in KettleForge never changes it in Health.
• KettleForge does not read your other workouts or any other Health data.
• Health data never leaves your device through KettleForge. It is not sent to us, not shared with or sold to anyone, not used for advertising, marketing or data mining, and not stored in iCloud by the app. The weight and sex you enter or that are read from Health are kept only in the app's private storage on your device.
• Deleting a workout from the History screen also deletes the workout and the energy KettleForge wrote to Health for it.
• You can change or withdraw access at any time in the Health app, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › KettleForge. Data already written to Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.

What information do we collect?

• None. We collect no personal information of any kind.
• There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising identifier, and no analytics or crash-reporting service in the app.
• We do not track you, and we do not share data with any third party, because we hold no data to share.

Your workouts

• Your settings and your workout history — what you lifted, for how long, and when each repetition was counted — are stored only on your own device, inside the app's private storage.
• Each finished workout also keeps the weight in your profile at the time, so that a rank is read in the weight category you lifted in, not the one you are in today. It is stored with the workout, on your device, like everything else.
• We have no access to any of it, and it is never uploaded.
• If you connect Apple Health, each finished workout is also saved there, as described above.
• Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your device. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay in Health. Individual workouts can be deleted from the History screen at any time, which removes them from Health too.

Rank standards

• KettleForge can compare a set with the rank standards published by a kettlebell federation. The table of standards is built into the app: nothing is downloaded, and the comparison is worked out on your device from your workout, your weight and your sex.
• The app only ever says that a set meets a standard. It does not award ranks and does not report anything to a federation.
• The Sources screen links to the federation's own website. Tapping a link opens it in your browser; the app itself does not contact the site.

Sharing, and saving images

• You can share a result card, or a training report as a PDF, using the share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose to, and it goes only where you send it. We do not receive a copy.
• A card or report shows what you lifted, when, and how many repetitions. Where a round meets a rank standard, it also shows the division and weight category it was compared in — for example “Men · 85 kg” — which says your sex and roughly what you weigh. Think about that before you post it.
• Save Image asks for permission to add to your photo library. KettleForge cannot see or read the photos already there.

Purchases

• KettleForge Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your name, your Apple Account, or your payment details.
• To know whether Pro is open, the app asks the App Store on your device which purchases your Apple Account holds. That answer stays on the device.
• Cancelling and refunds are handled by Apple too. See the support page for how.

Children

• KettleForge is rated 4+ and collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

• We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will update this page and note the date below.
