KettleForge Support
KettleForge is an interval timer for kettlebell sport that counts your
repetitions with the front camera. If something is not working, or the
count is wrong, please write to
help+kf@partof.team and tell us
which lift you were doing and what happened. It helps enormously if you say
which device you were using.
Which lifts are counted?
- Long cycle, jerk and snatch. These three are the
competition lifts, and each one has been counted in front of the camera
against a real set and checked repetition for repetition.
- Clean, swing, press, push press and squat appear in the app marked
“Soon” and cannot yet be selected. They are shown rather than
hidden so you can see what is coming. A lift is unlocked only once it has
been lifted in front of the camera and the count came out right —
we would rather offer three lifts that work than eight that might
not.
Setting the phone up so it can see you
- Stand the phone against a wall or in a stand, facing you, with your
whole body in frame — head to feet, including the bells overhead at
lockout.
- Two to three metres away works well. Even, front-on lighting is better
than a bright window behind you.
- The camera feed is shown behind the timer so you can check you are in
frame. Use the Feed slider in the bottom bar to make it
more or less visible.
- On iPad, counting works in any orientation. On iPhone the app is
portrait only.
The count stopped climbing
- Most often this means you have moved out of frame, or the bells are
going above the top of the picture at lockout. Step back and check the
feed.
- Tap the count above the clock to add a repetition by
hand. The camera and the tap work together, so anything missed
can be added while the round is running.
- If the camera is unavailable or access was refused, the app says so
under the count and tapping is the way to score.
Starting without touching the phone
- Turn on Start on a raised hand in Settings. Press Start, then
raise either hand above your head and hold it for two seconds.
- The count box pulses and ticks once a second while it can see your
hand, so you know it has noticed you.
- Get Ready is then five seconds rather than the full countdown, because
you are already standing where you need to be.
Sound
- The phases are told apart by the shape of the sound, not just the
pitch: one soft note into Get Ready, two hard strikes when work begins,
and a triad at the end.
- It plays through the silent switch on purpose, so a phone lying face
down still calls the rounds, and it ducks your music rather than talking
over it.
Your data
- Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-in, nothing
uploaded. See the
Privacy Policy for the detail,
including exactly what happens with the camera.
- Workouts can be deleted individually by swiping in History. Deleting
the app removes all of them.
KettleForge Pro: purchases, cancelling and refunds
- A new phone, or Pro not showing? In the app, open
Profile and tap Restore Purchases. You need to be signed in to
the App Store with the Apple Account that bought Pro.
- To cancel a subscription, open Profile and tap
Manage Subscription, or go to Settings › your name
› Subscriptions. Pro stays open until the end of the period
you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: we never see
your payment and cannot issue one ourselves. Request one at
reportaproblem.apple.com,
signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. If Apple refunds
a purchase, the Pro features it paid for close.
